BAZIKYAN GAGIK KARAPET

BAZIKYAN GAGIK KARAPET (born 1948) oncologist, oncogynecologist, doctor of medical sciences, professor. He has been the Deputy Director of the National Center of Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia since 2004. He has been a professor of the Department of Oncology of Yerevan State Medical University after Mkh. Heratsi since 2006. He has been the chief oncologist of Yerevan city since 2010 and the Executive Director of the Oncology Development Fund since 2012.

From 1966-1972 he studied at the Medical Faculty of Yerevan State Medical Institute.

He completed the residencyship in oncology.

From 1973-1975 worked as a district oncologist at the Central Regional Hospital in Abovyan.

From 1975-1978 studied at the Postgraduate studies of the Oncology Research Center of Moscow State University after N.N. Blokhin.

From 1978-1981 worked in the Department of Surgery of the Institute of Radiology and Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia as a doctor-oncologist-gynecologist, junior scientific worker.

In 1979 defended his dissertation and got his Ph.D. in medical sciences.

In 1981 founded the Department of Oncogynecology of the Scientific Research Institute of Radiology and Oncology of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia where he had worked as the head of department and senior researcher until 1992.

From 1992-2004 he was the Head of the Anti-Tumor Dispensary after K. Bazikyan of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia and the Head of the Surgical Department of the same Dispensary.

From 1994-2006 he was an Associate Professor at the Department of Oncology of the National Institute of Health after S. Avdalbekyan.

In 2006 he defended his thesis and got a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree.

From 2006-2011 he was a Professor at the National Institute of Health after S. Avdalbekyan of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

He is a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, "Elite" International Academy, European Academy of Natural Sciences, Scientific Committee of the Eurasian Oncology Program,

National Institute of Health Professional Degree Council, member of the CIS Expert Group on Response to Cancer Diseases.

He was awarded the diplomas and medals of the Ministry of Health and Yerevan Municipality.

He is the author of more than 110 printed works.
